|I've been busy lately, trying to get our house ready to sell. It's been hectic. I've been biking to work 2-3 times a week. 7km each way, it's been awesome. It seems everything is getting faster. I'm living a fast paced life.
I've been changing the way I think about things lately. I'd like less hustle and bustle. I'd like more country, more privacy and less stuff to pay for. It's prompted us to downsize and sell our massive house for one a lot cozier with a smaller footprint.
I'm surprised at the average real estate buyer these days. Now that I've been looking at the local market it's amazing how many people choose to heat their houses with a non-renewable resource, oil. I figured our geo-thermal heating would put our house above the rest in the same price range. It's still too soon, we are ahead of the curve. Maybe in 10 years depending on what happens with the price of oil. People would rather shell out $3000 a year to heat their home as long as they have a big deck and 5 bedrooms for a 3 member family.
We have chosen to be smarter with our money, if not more frugal. Having a big house at the end of the day is just that a big house. Having room in the budget to travel as a family and still live comfortably is the goal.
We've started the process. Here's the listing, if you know anyone who wants to live in an energy efficient home, (never buy oil again), perhaps a family of 4 to fill it?...please share.
I've gone through the process of downsizing many times in my life. In fact I've even written about it here. Gee, what have I not written about here. This post really sums up the circular nature of life. A dozen years later and thousands and thousands of dollars later and I still want minimal to keep my brain quiet and my body stress free.
